Piano Lessons for Middle/Teen Years
Studies have found that playing the piano can positively impact neurological skills; playing the piano can improve the brain’s ability to process and retain information as it requires both hemispheres of the brain to work together; using both hands, ten fingers sometimes playing ten different notes (woodwinds or brass only one note; guitars up to six).
Piano students read and interpret sheet music, recognize patterns and sequences (as do engineers) and coordinate their hands and fingers (fine motor skills) to play the correct notes, melodies and entire songs.
After learning the basics including theory, Ms. Taylor tailors lessons to students’ favorite genres. She prefers working with beginners.
